THE ANGELS' TREE OF LIGHTS
Thursday November 27th 2008
400 Taunton Rd. E. Whitby         7:30 pm

The evergreen is a symbol of faithfulness for it remains green even when other plants seem dead and drap.  It reminds us of what we know already: that nothing dies; rather, life is only transformed into new life.  For this reason, the Angel's Tree of Light - an evergreen decorated with angels bearing the names of our children - has become a very meaningful remembrance, and for some families an important new traditions.
Just in case you misplaced the form for remembering your special loved one, we have  included another one with this news letter.  In the past the printing costs of  printing and/or other expenses have been generously donated.  Sould you wish to cover this cost for us this year, please contact the BFO Office.

Please plan on joining us as we dedicate and light our
Angel's Tree of Light.

History

BBereaved Families of Ontario (BFO) was initiated in 1978 by four bereaved mothers as a self-help, mutual aid program under the auspices of the Chaplaincy Department of the Hospital for Sick Children. In July 1984, a grant from the Trillium Foundation enabled the organization to became a provincial body. Durham Region became an affiliate in October 1993 "and a strong team of volunteers". Our chapter provides support services, public awareness, and volunteer training in our Region.

Mission

BFO provides self-help/mutual aid support to bereaved parents through groups and/or one-to-one meetings.

BFO may assist corporations. local businesses and other institutions with bereaved support services for their employees and their families through their Employee Assistance Program.

BFO has a small staff of volunteers who will provide the front line service to the bereaved in our community.

Funding

All our programs and services are offered free of charge.

BFO-Durham Region currently receives no federal, prudential or municipal funding, nor are we a member of the Untied Way.

Most of BFO's Funding comes from individuals and special fundraising events.
